Our Gushy Love Letter to the Bahamian People

So for our final dispatch from our recent adventure through the beautiful Bahamas, we thought we’d share with you this awesome video clip. It’s raw video – unedited – from an encounter we had while walking through the Fish Fry one day at lunch. It was totally unexpected. Totally spontaneous. And so totally cool.

Without further adieu, ladies and gents… meet Showtime!

It starts off just kind of… well… odd. But just keep listenin’ to what Showtime has to say. It’s good stuff…

So, yeah.

Showtime’s not just a whacked-out Bahamian taxi driver. He’s a philosopher. He’s a man of deep thought and consideration. And he’s right on the money, we might add.

We’ve been lucky enough to travel to lots of places, to experience lots of different cultures and to meet lots of interesting folks. And as much as it does anything else, travel most definitely opens your eyes to the true nature of most human beings. And despite all the awful stuff that you hear on the news or read on the internet, the world is actually chock-full of decent, good-hearted, humble, family-loving people. Just like you. Just like us. We may live in different countries, speak different languages and live very different lives. But when it comes right down to it, we all pretty much want that same things out of life: happiness, love, peace and security.

Of course there are the exceptions. Lots and lots of “bad apples” walking around out there in the world. But by and large our travels – and our many personal experiences – have really helped reaffirm our faith in people. And that’s pretty dang cool.

But this post, as mentioned, is dedicated not just to Showtime – but to the Bahamian people, who in all of our travels are among the friendliest, quickest with a handshake and most eager to share a smile that we’ve ever met. There were a couple of people in a couple of places that might’ve rubbed us the wrong way during our visit to the islands, but any negative experiences we had were quickly and completely overshadowed by the kindness and love of damned-near everybody else. We’re from Texas, you know – so we’re pretty well used to being around friendly folks – but the Bahamian people really just blew us away.

So cheers y’all! And thanks for being such amazing hosts! Let’s do it all again real soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

Peace & Love
