It’s Our One Year TV Anniversary! And We Want to Say Thanks Y’all!

[Posted September 8, 2017]

So. Can we talk to you guys for a second?

We don’t get serious much around here, because we like to keep it light and fun.  But today happens to be a very big day for us. Exactly one year ago today, on September 8, 2016, a full decade’s worth of dreaming, planning, traveling, learning and hard work hit a major milestone: our little TV show made its first-ever premiere on our local PBS station here in the Texas Panhandle, Panhandle PBS.

And what a year it’s been since.

Thanks in very, very large part to you guys, the show caught on. Within a matter of months we were on the air throughout our great state of Texas. Then we started showing up on PBS stations around the country. And now, after getting picked up by Create TV, we’re on the air and available in more than 90% percent of the United States. And the show’s still growing. Crazy. As we type this we’re finishing up production on our second season, and we’ve already begun production on season three. Crazy. Crazy.

If you didn’t already know, it’s just the two of us. There’s no crew, no team of producers and assistants, nobody to shoot for us or edit for us or to run down to Starbucks and fetch us coffee. It’s us. And a couple of old cameras we shoot with. And a couple of beat up old computers that we edit on. And despite the public faces we put on it all, it’s an unbelievable amount of work. Not just producing the show itself, but also lobbying stations to carry the show, and trying to find good companies to support the show financially just so we can keep it alive. Which is incredibly hard.

Don’t get us wrong – it’s an absolutely amazing life we live and we love it more every single day, but like any job there are definitely those days when it feels like the weight of it all is just gonna smash us like a grape.

But then there’s you guys. There’s always you guys. Encouraging us, supporting us, lobbying stations for us, sharing our posts and stories, and keeping us motivated to keep going. And you guys mean the world to us.

So as we celebrate today, our first anniversary of being on the air, we very sincerely want to thank all of you for following along, for supporting the show, and for being there for us as we chase this little dream of ours. As far as we’re concerned, we don’t have “fans” of the show, we have friends. Great friends. And we so appreciate you, more than you’ll ever know.

So cheers y’all! To the year that was, and to the years that are gonna be. We’re excited about what’s coming, and we’re so glad you’re along for the ride.
