Episode Extra: Our Zipline and Treehouse Adventure Deep in the Heart of Texas

As much as anything these days – as much as the food, the music and its laid-back vibe – Austin is known as an outdoor lover’s paradise. And for good reason! There are a countless number of ways to get out and enjoy the great outdoors around Austin and the Texas Hill Country. And if you like injecting a bit of adrenaline into your outdoor routine, you should absolutely spend a couple of hours (or even the night!) at a little spot called Cypress Valley Canopy Tours.

It’s an intimate little adventure resort located in the Hill Country west of Austin, in a place called Spicewood. When it was opened back in 2005 it was actually home to the first canopy ziplining tour in the continental United States, and in the years since the canopy tour – and the resort itself – has grown to become one of the most popular adventure destinations in Central Texas. Not only do they offer day and night ziplining adventures that’ll allow you to soar among their namesake towering and beautiful 100-foot tall cypress trees, but after the tour is over you can actually spend the night in one of the very cool and cozy treehouses that they rent to guests on the property!

The folks at Cypress Valley were kind enough to host us for a day and a night during our return trip to the Hill Country to film our Austin episode, and we absolutely had a blast! The people are great, the guides are a ton of fun (but very professional and safety focused) and the canopy tour itself is a total blast. In fact, be sure to look out for the the “race course” part of the tour in the video above! And if you’re ever in the Austin area and are looking for a great adventure for the whole family, we’d absolutely recommend you make the short drive out to Spicewood and pay them a visit. And let ’em know we sent you!

Cheers y’all. Safe travels. And thanks as always for watching!
