Lost luggage. Altitude sickness. Food poisoning. And this morning we literally bought dynamite at a streetside market before descending into one of the most dangerous mines on planet earth.
Yep. Been a pretty wild ride so far! And despite some pretty crazy drama, we can’t tell y’all how super incredibly happy we are to be back filming in one of our favorite countries (and one of the most underrated destinations) in the whole wide world: beautiful Bolivia! We first came here about ten years ago and just fell head over heels in love with the landscape, the culture and the people. Such a cool place!
If you have a sec, check out some of the pics from our adventure here these last few days. And it’s only just beginning! Can’t wait to show and tell y’all more!
Our thanks to our great friends at Adventure Life and Hi Bolivia Travel & Tours for helping get us back down here, and for taking such great care of us as always. We so appreciate it!
So cheers y’all! Thanks as always for following along! Hope all is well back home! More to come soon….

Beautiful evening in Sucre, Bolivia!
The charming streets of Sucre on a lovely spring day. (It’s spring down here!)
Central Sucre
Our AWESOME guide Lourdes, who put up with us for a few days in Sucre and Tarabuco. Thanks so much sweet friend! Muchas gracias por todo!
Sucre’s General Cemetery. One of the most beautiful cemeteries we’ve ever visited!

Sucre General Cemetery. Wow.
Met new friends all over Sucre! Including this guy…
…and this guy! He helped guide us through a local monastery. 🙂
Panoramic view of Sucre at sunset, taken from the terrace of our hotel. Beautiful!
Balloons rise into the evening sky above Sucre.
The little village of Tarabuco, famous for its Sunday markets.
One of the markets in Tarabuco.
Our new friend Paulino, who sold us a bunch of blankets at the market. He really was a friendly guy! Honest! 🙂
Nik carrying her stash from the market, the way the local ladies do.
The beautiful Bolivian landscape, between Sucre and Potosi.
Yep! Bolivia is a beautiful, beautiful country. <3
The city of Potosi. One of the highest cities in the world, at an elevation of almost 14,000 feet!
Buying dynamite – yes DYNAMITE – and a few other items at a market in Potosi.
Why did we buy dynamite? For these guys! Some of the miners who work the incredibly dangerous silver mines on Cerro Rico, a massive mountain that looms over the city.
Some of the miners gather around Dusty as he flies the drone, and monitors the video feed on our iPad. They thought it was the coolest thing!
One of the mining operations on Cerro Rico.
Yes! The mines on Cerro Rico are considered among the most dangerous in the world. But believe it or not, they actually let tourists go in there as the miners are working. Craziness! Here we’re about to go inside the mountain with our guide Marco. And we’re pretty freaking nervous to be honest.
Got into the mine and ran into these miners, who showed us the fuses, caps and TWO HUNDRED sticks of dynamite they were taking into the mine to use. Wild!
One of the rest areas for the miners inside the mountain, complete with a religious shrine.
The mine is super cramped, super dark and incredibly dangerous. As you can see! Thousands and thousands of people have died inside Cerro Rico, which among other things is known as “the mountain that eats men.” And even today it’s estimated that a dozen miners are killed on average every month. Insane.
Celebrating the fact that we survived the mine, with new friends in central Potosi! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Evening sets in on the central plaza in Potosi.
Cheers y’all! Much love from Potosi!
