The Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is just a magical place. Really. And one of the coolest things about the world’s largest salt flat is that you can take some absolutely amazing photos while you’re out there on it! Thanks, especially, to the natural lack of depth perception that allows you to get really creative with your shots. And here are a few of ours! Also, if you’d like to learn some fast and fascinating facts about the salar, click on over to our other post here. Good stuff!
Cheers guys! Enjoy! Watch out for the dinosaurs!

Jumping for joy on the spectacular Salar de Uyuni in southern Bolivia. It’s the world’s largest salt flat and is absolutely mind-blowing!
Driving across the vast, blinding blank canvas that is the salar.
Isn’t this just CRAZY?!
The salar used to be the site of several large prehistoric salty lakes, which eventually dried up leaving this crazy, vast, mind-numbing expanse of pure salt.
One of the coolest picnics we’ve ever had!
Welcome to the Salar de Uyuni!
Taking a break from filming on the salar, while our guides set up for lunch in the background.
This is not photoshopped in any way. A drone shot we got of our Land Cruiser where we set up for lunch on the salar. Zoom in on the dot! See us down there?
Howdy y’all! On the Salar de Uyuni.
This place is a photographer’s heaven on earth. Unbelievable.
Drone shot of one of the few actual structures anywhere on the salar. It used to be a hotel but now it’s just a kind of stopping place for travelers. And yes, it’s made almost entirely of salt itself.
Howdy from the Salar de Uyuni!
About the only color you’ll find out here in the sea of blinding white! Folks come here from around the world to plant their flags. And of course we forgot to bring one. Dang it!
Yep. There are islands out here in this sea of salt! And like most of them, Inca Huasi Island is covered with rocks and shrubs and huge cactus.
Cactus-covered Inca Huasi Island.
The view from Inca Huasi Island. Notice how the salt looks like waves rolling in? Craziness!
Cheers from atop Inca Huasi Island!
Objects on the salar may be larger than they appear.
Bought a $2 toy dinosaur at a toy shop in the nearby town of Uyuni. Worth every penny!
Awwww. She loves that little guy!
Anyone care for a Bolivian cerveza? All you can drink! LOL
Out here on the salar you can have a ton of fun playing with the naturally distorted depth perception, which makes for some crazy cool fun pictures!
Hope he doesn’t fall in! (Although he wouldn’t mind LOL)
Cheese! With our driver Daniel and our guide Ezekiel.
….and the light begins to dance across the salar…
…as the sun begins to set over the endless horizon.
Ended the day on the salar with a bottle of Bolivian wine at sunset. What an incredible place!
