As mentioned in last week’s webisode, the Argentine city of El Calafate is one of the most popular and one of the most important tourist hubs in all of Patagonia. In fact lot of folks refer to Calafate as the “gateway to Patagonia,” or the “gateway to adventure,” and rightfully so. Calafate is the perfect spot from which to strike out and explore the many incredible natural wonders that Argentine Patagonia has to offer.

But more often than not, tourists to El Calafate come to this area to visit one place more than any other: nearby Los Glaciares National Park, and the spectacular Perito Moreno Glacier.

Perito Moreno is without question one of the most stunning glaciers in the world. And thanks to its proximity to El Calafate and the fact that – as glaciers go – it’s easily accessible, Perito Moreno is today one of the most important tourist attractions in all of Argentina, drawing thousands upon thousands of adventurers from around the globe every year.

And to satisfy that growing tourist crowd, the government has constructed a really nice visitors center near the base of the glacier, complete with a snack bar, an information center and a system of wooden walkways that allow you to get some amazing views and photos of the glacier itself. But if you’re like us, you’ll come to Perito Moreno wanting to get the full adventure experience. To get away from the crowds. To get as close as you possibly can to that spectacular river of ice. And maybe, just maybe, to set foot upon its jagged surface. How cool would that be?

Well… as you’ll see in this week’s very cool video, that’s exactly what we did! Turns out a handful of companies actually offer tours for trekking Perito Moreno. And as you might imagine, it’s an absolutely incredible experience! So put on your coats and gloves, strap some crampons on your feet, and join us on our latest Adventure Life adventure. Just watch your step! And stay around for the very cool surprise at the end. 🙂

Cheers y’all. And happy travels!
